Does your child Want to learn how to play the piano?
Let’s unlock that musical talent and have some fun.
I believe there is no better way to learn (anything) than when you are having fun and my children certainly think that too!
I teach piano and I teach it differently. I’ve been through every method book out there (really – all of them), and while they have their place, let’s be honest: they’re not exactly inspiring. Do students really want their first encounter with music to be three pages of middle C… followed by the thrilling addition of a D?! I don’t think so.
My lessons are about sparking curiosity, joy, and real musical understanding.
A fresh approach to piano lessons
Rather than just turning the pages of their method books (slowly!), I use engaging games, creative activities, and hands-on experiences to help students absorb essential musical concepts – rhythm, note-reading, technique – in a way that actually sticks. It’s not just more fun (though it definitely is), it’s more effective.
not just playing – understanding
From the very first lesson, students are understanding, exploring, and loving music — not the “play and pray” approach as I call it – where overwhelmed students hazard a guess at which one of the 88 keys on this enormous black and white contraption (which all look the same to them!) that they need to press as they can’t remember which was which!
My goal is simple:
- For your child to enjoy learning the piano
- To want to learn more and practice
- Help fully understand what they are playing
- Make my lessons the highlight of their week
- Help them become a confident, expressive musician – without the yawns or switching off wiggles
- Be proud of their development
their music, their choice
Unlike some lessons which solely focus on preparing for exams, I believe your child should have a choice in shaping what they play. Alongside progressing through the ABRSM grades, I focus on playing for pleasure – as that’s why they are learning right? Allowing them the space to find out what type of musician they are and what they like to play.
I believe it is so important for young learners to enjoy what they are playing and have an input in choosing what they want to play (as they are the ones who have to practice it…a lot!). I help guide and expose them to different styles to encourage wider learning around music but give them the freedom to have a say in what they play, including exam choices.
When students enjoy what they’re playing, they want to practice. Less of the Practice Police needed from you!
why my students love their lessons
Every lesson is designed to be a positive, encouraging space where they can truly enjoy music. Whether they’re exploring a favourite genre, picking their own exam pieces, or having fun through my musical games, your child will leave each session smiling and growing. With each lesson, your child will not only be having fun developing their musical skills and a love for playing, they will be proud of their development.
Your child will:
🎵 Understand music, not just play it
🎵 Explore rhythm, technique, and note-reading through play
🎵 Develop confidence and expressive skills
🎵 Work towards ABRSM grades and play for pleasure
🎵 Choose music they love and feel proud to perform
